Air Purification Effectiveness

Both Surround Air XJ-2000 and Ionic Breeze Quadra purifiers use an air ionizer to produce negative ions, and minimal amounts of ozone to purify the air. The Surround Air ionizer produces a much higher level of negative ions though. 

Each Surround Air ionizer has seventeen needlepoints (negative ion-producing electrodes), while the Ionic Breeze has only two ionizing wires. Needlepoints produce far higher negative ion levels than ionizing wires. As a result, the Surround Air ionizers can produce many more negative ions. Generally speaking, the higher the ion output, the higher the effectiveness of an air ionizer.

The stainless steel, ion-producing needlepoints of the Surround Air ionizer are also far more durable than the ionizing wires used by the Ionic Breeze. 99.2% reduction in airborne particles 
from 3 feet away from the air ionizer.

Price

For about the same amount of effectiveness and coverage, a single Ionic Breeze Quadra costs about six times as much as one single XJ-2000 Surround Air ionizer, when buying a single unit. This allows you an affordable way to thoroughly purify the air in multiple rooms, or even the entire home, since one air purifier will have a difficult time purifying beyond the room in which it is placed.

Collector Plate

According to a 1990 research study about air ionizers, horizontal dust collection plates (like those used by XJ-2000 air ionizer) picked up many more of the microbial cultures than the vertical plates (like those used by the Ionic Breeze). This study found air ionizers to be an effective way of reducing airborne microbial levels in a dental clinic.

Shape and Size

The Ionic Breeze Quadra is a tall-standing unit (27 inches tall), while the XJ-2000 Surround Air ionizer is more of a flat, table-top unit (less than 4 inches tall). This allows the Surround Air ionizers to be placed on book shelves, entertainment centers, and other higher locations. Due to its shape, the Ionic Breeze cannot be placed in many of the locations the XJ-2000 air ionizer can. 

Air Ionizers are more effective if they can be placed 5 feet or more off the ground, since better air currents are available at this height, allowing better distribution of the negative ions, and allowing more air to pass through the unit. In which case, it is more advantageous to have a unit that fits onto higher surfaces in your home, such as the Surround Air XJ-2000 air purifier.

Car Plug Adapter

Each XJ-2000 Surround Air Ionizer comes standard with a cigarette lighter adapter so they can also be used in the vehicle. The Ionic Breeze does not come with this option.
